Air Transportation Management

The Air Transportation Management concentration provides the student with a comprehensive analysis of the aviation industry. Because of the dynamic nature of the industry, it is essential that the student be introduced to both the complexities and nuances that are specific to air transportation. Throughout the academic program, the student will study the concepts, theories and strategies involved in aviation policy and law, airline administration and management, as well as airport planning and design among others. The curriculum focuses on providing the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address and manage the unique elements affecting air transportation, such as economic, environmental, organizational, political and regulatory. The Air Transportation Management program enables the student to review the implications of these conditions from a historical perspective, analyze the issues in the current environment, predict their impact on the future of the industry and develop successful management strategies.

The program of study is interdisciplinary in nature and prepares the aeronautical career-oriented student for positions such as air traffic control specialist, air carrier manager, airport manager and general aviation operations manager. Graduates of our Air Transportation Management concentration have been successful in obtaining a variety of positions in the aviation industry as well as with government agencies at the federal, state and local levels.

Scholarships are available to full-time Air Transportation Management students on a competitive basis. Internships and co-ops for academic credit are available with aerospace manufacturing companies, airports, airlines and other aviation firms.
