Richard A. Charles, Ph.D.
Department Chair
Dr. Richard Charles has more than thirty years of experience in the aerospace industry in staff, engineering, and executive positions. He served in the U.S. Air Force and has held positions with Continental Airlines, ARINC, Rockwell International-Collins Air Transport Division, and Sagem Avionics, a French avionics firm based in Paris. Dr. Charles has also consulted to several foreign governments in Europe and the Middle East on multi-modal transportation policy, air traffic control operating regulations, and the harmonization of civil aviation regulations among U.S., European, and internation standards (ICAO). He has been the Coordinator of Aviation and Transportation Studies at Georgia State University, Director of Aviation at Utah State University, and currently serves as Chair of the Aeronautical Management Technology Department at Arizona State University.
