William K. McCurry, Ph.D.
Professor and Former Department Chair
Dr. William K McCurry was the Chair of the Aeronautical Management Technology Department at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus from the Fall 1995 to the Summer of 2007. He is currently a tenured professor in the department. Prior to coming ot ASU, he was Chair of the Department of Aerospace Technology at Indiana State University. His research interests are in human factors and safety. Completing a doctorate in Educational Psychology and Research from the University of Kansas in 1989, he became the Director of Research for the Department of Social & Rehabilitation Services, Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services for the State of Kansas.
He has extensive aviation safety, maintenance and operational flight experience, having left military service as a Lieutenant Colonel and a Master Army Aviator. Prior to retiring from the U.S. Army, he was the Chief, Force Modernization Branch at Fort Hood, Texas, where he also acted as the Project Officer for the fielding of the AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter. Dr. McCurry holds a commercial SEL, MEL, rotorcraft, instrument, advanced ground and CFI certificates. Dr. McCurry is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for the Aviation Accredidation Board International (AABI) which accredits non-engineering aviation programs at colleges and universities internationally. He has held positions as Secretary and Treasurer of the University Aviation Association and as Chair of the Air Transportation Ab Initio Training Committee.
